The driver of a car towing a trailer loaded with dozens of rowing boats was captured on dashcam almost ripping a traffic light out of the ground.
The traffic light at the intersection of Macquarie and Molle Streets in Hobart was bent at a 45-degree angle as a result of the crash earlier this month.
Vision uploaded to the popular Dash Cam Owners Australia channel on YouTube showed the driver attempting to make a tight right turn from the far-right lane but instead colliding with the pole.
The smash narrowly avoided injuring a passing pedestrian, who was mere centimetres away from being struck on the head.
The driver was then observed reversing and continuing onto Macquarie Street.
According to a spokesperson from State Growth, the damaged traffic light was replaced 12 days after the incident at a cost of around $4,500.
The road was temporarily blocked on the night the contractors completed the necessary repairs.
