A vehicle stop by Tasmania Police’s Task Force Scelus has led to the seizure of drugs, cash and a replica firearm in Ulverstone.
Taskforce members pulled over a vehicle on Friday afternoon and found 26 grams of methylamphetamine, three grams of MDMA, $6,615 in cash and other evidence of drug dealing during a search of the car.
A 40-year-old West Ulverstone man was arrested at the scene.
Police then searched a nearby property, where they allegedly located a realistic replica revolver, 115 grams of cannabis and a quantity of prescription medication.
The man has been charged with trafficking and selling controlled substances, possessing controlled drugs and a controlled plant, possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing a firearm without a licence.
He has been bailed to appear in court at a later date.
Acting Sergeant Ben Kirkby said the intercept was a strong example of proactive policing by the task force.
“This was a successful search that removed illicit drugs, cash and a firearm from the community,” Kirkby said.
“Task Force Scelus remains an agile and mobile task force unit, responding to illicit crime and drug activity across the district while also maintaining a strong focus on road safety enforcement.”
