A Kingston woman has been charged after she was caught behind the wheel six times over the legal limit yesterday.
Police say they received reports of the woman driving her white Toyota Corolla erratically through Hobart around 3pm on Thursday.
Officer later caught up to the 49-year-old woman on Davey Street where she returned an alcohol reading of 0.301, six times over the legal limit.
The woman has been disqualified from driving for 12 months and charged with high range drink driving.
She was bailed and is due to appear in court on June 28.
Acting Inspector Rick Newman said it was really disappointing that police continue to detect people who think it is ok to drive when they have consumed alcohol.
“They are not only putting themselves, but other drivers and members of the community at risk,” Acting Inspector Newman said.
“We ask drivers to reconsider their need to drive after drinking. We all have a part to play in keeping everyone safe on our roads, not just police.”
“As always, police need the community’s support and we would like to thank the person who contacted us and reported this instance of dangerous driving.”
Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving is asked to call police on the first instance on 131 444, or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
