Tasmania Police have intercepted festival-goers leaving the Panama Music Festival in Northern Tasmania as part of a road safety blitz.

Inspector Nick Clark said one person was caught drink driving and two drivers returned positive drug tests in the operation.

Within other road blitz operations over the long weekend, police nabbed three additional drink drivers, 44 speedsters, ten non-seatbelt wearers, three illegal mobile phone users and three unlicensed drivers.

A 40-year-old man has also been disqualified from driving and charged with drink driving after being caught more than four times the limit on Thursday morning.

“His vehicle was observed to swerve on Frankford Road at Exeter and after being pulled over by police he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.217,” Clark said.

“Keeping yourself as safe as possible on our roads is simple. Don’t speed, wear a seatbelt, pay attention, leave your phone alone and never drink or drug drive.”

“Do the right thing, encourage those around you to do the right thing and help us ensure everyone gets where they’re going safely.”
