Launceston man facing firearms charges after allegedly making threats while armed in Ravenswood home

Police have charged a Launceston man with firearms offences after he allegedly made threats with a firearm inside a Ravenswood home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 29-year-old was arrested after a brief standoff with police after he left the property and allegedly threatened officers.

Police said the firearm used in the ordeal was recovered and all people involved were known to each other.

They said no one was harmed during the incident and confirmed there was no risk to the public.

“Anyone with information about illegal firearms is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopperstas.com.au,” police said.

“Information can be provided anonymously.”
