A drunk 77-year-old man who ‘blasted’ through roadworks on the Huon Highway at more than 30km/h over the speed limit has been charged this afternoon.
The man was caught after travelling at 92 in 60km/h roadworks zone around 2pm, before later returning a breath test result two and a half times the legal limit.
He has been charged with drink driving and speeding offences and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
Inspector Andrew Keane said that drink driving and speeding places the Tasmanian community and our emergency service workers in danger.

“No one can drive safely if they are under the influence of alcohol, let alone adding speeding into the mix, and this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated,” Inspector Keane said.
If you witness drink driving, speeding or other dangerous driving behaviours, call police on 131444 or triple-zero (000) in an emergency.
