A drunk Hobart driver has ‘narrowly avoided’ crashing head-on into a truck at Runnymede this morning.
The Dodges Ferry man was more than 2.70x the legal breath alcohol limit when he “veered to the wrong side of the road” and into the path of a truck, Police say.
The driver of the oncoming truck was “forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision”.
It’s understood the man was restrained by other drivers at the scene, who prevented him from getting back behind the wheel and “continuing to be a further danger to himself and other road users”.
The man has been charged with drink driving offences and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on September 18.
