A drunk man who was involved in a crash on the East Derwent Highway this afternoon was found to be more than 5 times over the limit by Police.
The 39-year-old man from Lindisfarne returned a reading of 0.250 following the two-car-crash and was arrested, disqualified and charged with exceed 0.05 and driving under the influence.

Inspector Jim Semmens said the crash was the result of ‘poor decision making’ and that the man should have never got behind the steering wheel of a car.
“It is only chance that nobody was injured,” he added.
The man will appear in court at a later date.
