A drunk Hobart mum who ran a red light on the Eastern Shore last night has been caught again, just 12 hours after being arrested and charged by Police.

The 33-year-old Tranmere woman, who was under the influence of alcohol, ran a red light at the intersection of Oceana Drive and South Arm Highway around 9pm on Thursday.

Her two young children were in the car at the time.

The woman returned a blood alcohol concentration level of 0.219 and received a two-year driving ban – but that didn’t stop her hitting the road once again this morning.

Just 12 hours later at 9am, she was stopped again by Police in the same area, driving the same car.

She is scheduled to appear in court to face charges at a later date.

Tasmania Police Inspector Andrew Keane expressed his disappointment and frustration, emphasising the dangers and consequences of drink driving.

He warned that such behavior won’t be tolerated and urged people to make the responsible choice of not getting behind the wheel after drinking.

“Our message cannot be clearer – you cannot drive safely if you have been drinking. If you want to drink alcohol, then do not drive,” he said.
