A drunk man who crashed his car after allegedly fleeing from Police, who had pulled him over on the Midland Highway this afternoon, has been charged.
Senior Sergeant John Parker said a concerted motorist alerted Police to the man around 3:15pm on Saturday, with officer intercepting him in Oatlands shortly after.
“Whilst officers were obtaining the drivers licence details of the man, he drove off at speed and in a dangerous manner in a southerly direction on the Midlands Highway,” Parker said.
The 40-year-old Triton driver then evaded Police who lost sight of the vehicle before crashing nearby Mudwalls Road.
“No other vehicles were involved, and the male was not injured.”
The driver was found to be 3.4x the legal alcohol limit at the crash site and has been charged with driving offences and and aggravated evade of police to appear in court in September.
Senior Sergeant Parker said Police would like to speak to anyone who observed the white Mitsubishi Triton fitted with a fibreglass canopy traveling on the Midlands Highway near Oatlands, and then on Mudwalls Road, between 3pm and 4pm.
