A drunk woman, who was almost four and a half times over the legal limit before 9:30am, has been stripped of her licence after crashing into a tree.
The 51-year-old Forcett woman lost control of her vehicle, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and smashed into a tree on Primrose Sands Road around 9am on Wednesday.
With a blood alcohol reading of 0.213 at the time of the crash, the woman was lucky to ‘narrowly avoid serious injury,’ Inspector Jon Cooper said.
She has since been charged with exceeding the 0.05 blood alcohol limit, driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and has been disqualified from driving for the next two years.
“Tasmania Police continue to see this type of reckless driving which puts innocent people at risk on our roads, it will not be tolerated,” Cooper said.
“Offending drivers will be detected and charged.”
