A 57-year-old Devonport woman has been charged with drink-driving at more than five times the legal limit after police pulled her over on Friday night.
Officers spotted the woman leaving the Devonport RSL around 9:40pm, driving slowly along Turton Street with her vehicle veering across the road.
When police intercepted her, they allege she mounted the kerb before managing to stop.
At the station, the woman allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.281 per 210 litres of breath – more than five times the legal limit of 0.05.
She was charged with driving while exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
The woman will appear in court at a later date.
Police said the arrest is particularly concerning given she has five previous drink-driving offences.
Tasmania Police reminded motorists of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
“Officers conduct regular patrols of streets, roads and highways and can be anywhere, anytime,” police said.
“If you are drink or drug-driving, you will be caught.”
