Effing Forest: Cheeky vandals target Tasmanian road sign

Cheeky vandals have targeted a road sign at Epping Forest in Tasmania’s Northern Midlands, turning it into “effing” forest.

State Growth say the graffiti, which went semi-viral in a recent Tiktok video, will be removed as part of ‘routine maintenance’ to avoid confusion.

TikTok user Helen pointed out the “cheeky” change last week in a video which now has nearly 200,000 views.

“I’m driving between Launceston and Hobart this morning, and I had to do a U-Turn and come back and show this,” she said in the video.

“This is Epping Forest. You can see what somebody’s done to it – turned it into something else,” she said.

State Growth say the graffiti, which went semi-viral in a recent Tiktok video, will be removed as part of ‘routine maintenance’ to avoid confusion.

“Graffiti on road signs can cause safety issues for road users if words and directional symbols are hidden or distorted,” a spokesperson said.

Graffiti can be reported to Roads Tas on 1300 139 933, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
