Tasmania is currently experiencing an egg shortage that has left supermarket shelves bare and customers disappointed.

According to a spokesperson from Woolworths, egg supply has become a challenge across the whole country.

The spokesperson assured the public that the situation is expected to improve over the coming months.

While the supermarket chain says it continues to deliver eggs to its stores regularly, demand in Tasmania has reportedly increased up 5-10% from the same time last year.

In response to the egg shortage, Woolworths say they have prioritized stock for Tasmania, which is set to arrive later this week.
