Gold Coast vets have confirmed Mary the Tasmanian devil who was found two weeks after escaping a theme park is in a stable but critical condition after undergoing an anaesthetic procedure for an MRI scan.
The two-year-old devil was found alive but in poor health in bushland at Oxenford after escaping her enclosure at the Paradise Country theme park 14 days earlier.
In a statement, the theme park said Mary’s wildlife team “remain by her side 24/7 to provide care and support”.
The veterinarian team perform high end diagnostics to help inform a targeted treatment plan.”

Mary escaped on June 2 after making what the theme park described as an “abnormally large leap” over a 1.4-metre fence.
CCTV footage showed her wandering the park around 4am that morning.

Paradise Country said teams used CCTV sightings, mapping, sniffer dogs, drones, trail cameras and humane traps during the extensive search.
Staff rushed Mary to a specialist veterinary hospital after she was located, where she underwent the MRI as part of a series of advanced diagnostic tests.
The results are expected to guide the next stage of her care and help vets develop a targeted treatment plan.
If Mary recovers, she is expected to be reunited with her companion Mavka.
