A former member of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle club has been charged with firearm offences following a raid on a storage facility in Burnie.

The 51-year-old man from Somerset appeared in Burnie Magistrates Court on Tuesday facing charges stemming from the search earlier this week.

Originally from Queensland, the man applied for bail but was refused.

He is yet to enter a plea to charges of trafficking in firearms, illegally possessing firearms and ammunition and breaching family violence orders.

Tasmania Police said officers found a shortened shotgun, a pistol and a stolen firearm, two gel blasters and a quantity of ammunition in the search.

The man will reappear in court later this month.
