A beach on Tasmania’s North-West coast was closed off yesterday while a 74-year-old man’s illegal explosive collection was detonated.
The Cooee man is facing numerous firearms charges after police located several unregistered firearms, ammunition, and some explosives at his coastal property.

The Police Bomb Response Group undertook the controlled detonation to safely dispose of the explosive materials, sending a loud bang echoing throughout the area.
