Firefighters have contained a blaze that tore through a Bellerive veterinary clinic overnight.
Tasmanian Fire Service crews were called to the structure fire at Tasmanian Veterinary Hospitals on Clarence Street at 3:30 this morning.
The blaze caused extensive damage to the clinic, but thankfully no animals were in the facility at the time.
“Overnight there was an incident at our Bellerive Hospital and our building sustained extensive damage due to an internal fire,” the clinic said in a statement.
“Due to this our servers are down and we are unable to contact our clients.”
The clinic has directed clients with appointments this week to their Sorell and Kingston branches.
“We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience during this really hard time for our TVH family,” they said.
Firefighters from Clarence and Hobart attended the blaze and an investigation into the cause is underway.
The incident comes just seven months after a truck driver fatally ploughed into a fence at the hospital.
