A Cygnet cabin described as a ‘tiny wooden box’ that is ‘barely wider than a 2 seater couch’ has been advertised for rent on Facebook Marketplace for $175 a week.
The cabin, which was shared online by outraged Twitter user Danny Carney, has no bathroom, no kitchen and is a 25 minute walk from Cygnet.
“If you had tried that on as little as five years ago, someone would have tossed you directly into the Tasman Sea,” Carney said.
The cabin owner is after “genuine inquiries only”, advertising the cabin as “fully insulated” with “heat and power.”

“Shared Kitchen and bathroom. $175 week! On a rural bush setting with walking tracks, creeks and magnificent views. Just 3 min drive from Cygnet or 25 min walk.”
Many Twitter users were quick to criticise the property, with one comparing it to a “fancy chook-pen”.
“Looks like a sauna,” another said.
Concerns were also raised about the property’s legal status, with a user by the name of ‘Planner’ asking if it ‘has building approval as a habitable building?’
