Firefighters are this morning battling a house fire at an abandoned property on Johnsons Road in Yolla.

Emergency services were called to the scene just before 6am on Monday after a Triple Zero (000) call reported the blaze at the old wooden home.

Crews arrived to find the building already well alight, with parts of the roof collapsed.

“The building was uninhabitable, with no doors or windows and is believed to have been vacant for some time,” a Tasmania Fire Service spokesperson said.

Firefighters remain on scene working to bring the flames under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Fire investigators will examine the site later this morning to determine how the blaze started.
