Fire permits will be required across Tasmania from tomorrow in an effort to prevent bushfires during the upcoming summer period.
The measure has been put in place by the Tasmania Fire Service, and will last until the end of the 2022-23 bushfire season.
Anyone that wishes to light a fire in the open will need to obtain a free permit from a TFS Permit Officer, which can be done by contacting their local brigade or calling 1800 000 699.

The Tasmania Fire Service are reminding people of the importance to follow all safety guidelines when building and maintaining a fire.
Never leave a fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving the area. Remember to have a water source nearby and to properly dispose of ashes.
Violation of these fire permit requirements may result in fines and legal action, and by obtaining a fire permit and following safety guidelines – we can all do our part to prevent bushfire risk.
