Fire that destroyed abandoned Millbrook Rise building was deliberately lit, investigators say

Fire investigators have found a blaze that destroyed an abandoned building in New Norfolk on Monday morning was deliberately lit.

Emergency services were called to the vacant Millbrook Rise building at the rear of a Hobart Road property around 1:25am.

Tasmania Fire Service crews extinguished the blaze, but the building could not be saved.

Investigators have since determined the fire was deliberately lit.

Police said the building had been abandoned for several years.

“I would describe this building as a total loss,” he said.

Foster said the building was “fully involved right through the complex”.
