Around 30 firefighters have returned to battle a bushfire near Swansea on Tasmania’s east coast this morning.
Crews are today working to strengthen containment lines around the blaze, which has now burnt through about 1,030 hectares.
The Tasmania Fire Service says conditions on the fireground at McNeills Road are “favourable”, with aircraft and earthmoving machinery being used to consolidate the fire perimeter.
No structures have been damaged and there is no immediate threat to property, but authorities are urging locals to stay alert.

TFS acting district officer Brendan Plummer said the fire was first reported around 5pm on Thursday, April 23.
He said local crews responded quickly to contain the fire.

“On Sunday, changing wind conditions caused increased fire activity along the northern edge of the fire,” he said.
“Firefighters, supported by aircraft, responded to this change, with warnings issued and updated as the conditions evolved.”
Plummer said the cause of the fire is still being investigated. McNeills Road remains closed to the public.
A bushfire advice alert for Swansea and surrounding areas remains in place, while a smoke alert is active for Dolphin Sands and the Cambria Drive area.
