Firefighters rush to extinguish fire at 1910-built West Hobart home

Firefighters have rushed to a house fire on a suburban West Hobart street tonight.

The Tasmania Fire Service say crews “arrived to find smoke issuing” from the Forest Road property shortly after 8:30pm on Monday.

They say the property is believed to be vacant and Pulse understands it operates as Airbnb accommodation with a nightly rate of $280.00.

According to a listing on the platform, the ‘Blandford’ house dates back to 1910 and has recently undergone extensive renovations.

Police have closed Forest Road between Cane Street and Goulburn Street while firefighters respond to the incident.

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
