A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the north-eastern region of Tasmania tonight as wild weather threatens the area.
The Bureau of Meteorology are warning residents that the storms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours across the Devonport, George Town, Scottsdale and Bridport areas.
“Warm and humid conditions over the state combined with a broad low pressure system over western Bass Strait is triggering areas of heavy rain in showers and thunderstorms in the north this evening,” the BOM say.

SES WHAT TO DO
People are urged to avoid driving, walking or cycling through floodwaters, to seek shelter indoors and avoid standing under trees.
For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.
