Foodbank Tasmania has donated a full pallet of cat food to Ten Lives Cat Centre to help prevent families giving up pets during the cost-of-living crisis.
The donation will support Ten Lives’ Meow Meals program, which provides emergency cat food to households experiencing financial hardship across Tasmania.
Ten Lives CEO Noel Hunt said the program works through community partners and welfare agencies to reach vulnerable people who might otherwise surrender their pets.
“Cost of living pressures mean some people go without essentials themselves to make sure their pets are fed,” Hunt said.

Foodbank Tasmania CEO Cameron Johns said his organisation was pleased to support Ten Lives’ community work.
“Ten Lives is doing crucial work in the Tasmanian community,” Johns said.

“Foodbank has supported Ten Lives over the years, and this donation helps ensure people doing it tough do not have to choose between feeding themselves or their pets.”
Hunt said support from Foodbank helps Ten Lives continue operating as a self-funded charity supporting both community welfare and animal protection.
Foodbank Tasmania’s Hobart operations act as a central distribution hub, supplying essential groceries to local charities and community organisations across southern Tasmania.
These frontline services then deliver food parcels and meals to individuals and families struggling with food insecurity.
