A ban on buses entering Gagebrook in Hobart’s north has been tightened less than a week after it was put in place.

Metro bus services are no longer able to travel to the suburb after 5pm due to ongoing “incidents of dangerous rock-throwing”.

The bus operator said the suspension, which initially only impacted passengers travelling after 7pm, will apply until further notice.

“We continue to recognise the inconvenience this may cause but unfortunately, this is a step that needs to be taken to protect the safety of our drivers and customers,” a spokesperson said.

“Metro is working closely with Tasmania Police on the ongoing issue.”

Routes 522, 530 and X30 will now terminate at the Cove Hill Shopping Centre.

“Please note that if your bus service is scheduled to arrive in Gagebrook after 5pm, you will need to find an alternative transport arrangement or nearby service.”

Metro recommends using their Trip Planner tool or contacting the hotline team for assistance.
