Gagebrook house extensively damaged in suspected arson attack

A vacant house in Gagebrook has been left extensively damaged following a deliberately lit fire late on Saturday night.

Tasmania Fire Service crews were called to the Thistle Street address around 11:15pm on Saturday, with firefighters from Bridgewater and Glenorchy arriving to find the house “burning well”.

Police are investigating the incident and say the fire caused significant damage to the property.

“But thankfully, no one was home at the time of the fire,” a spokesperson said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information or CCTV footage of the area at the time to contact Glenorchy Police or Crime Stoppers.
