A 41-year-old George Town man is due to face court after police allege he was caught driving unlicensed and with drugs in his system three times in three days.

Tasmania Police said it was disappointed after officers intercepted the man at different locations across northern Tasmania between October 7 and October 9.

On October 7, police carrying out speed checks on the East Tamar Highway at Mowbray allegedly detected his 4WD travelling 16km/h over the speed limit.

Two days later, on Friday night, the same officers were running a road safety operation at George Town.

Police allege the man drove through the 40km/h reduced speed zone at 70km/h.

Police said he tested positive to illicit drugs on “all three occasions”.

“Driving without a licence, whilst speeding and drug driving is a recipe for disaster and Tasmania Police will continue to hold drivers account for such poor behaviour,” a spokesperson said.

“Speed limits are for everyone’s safety, so please obey them, including when emergency services are conducting road safety operations where reduced speed are posted.”

The man will appear in court, where police said he faces a long period of disqualification.
