A 13-year-old girl has been charged after a group of at least three youths allegedly assaulted a man at a shopping complex in Hobart’s north last night.
Police received reports of the incident near Kmart New Town around 7:20pm on Wednesday.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said the man did not suffer any serious physical injuries.
It remains unclear what may have caused the alleged incident.
“Police attended the scene quickly and were able to safely manage the incident,” the spokesperson said.
Officers took the girl into custody and charged her with common assault. She was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
“Police investigations continue into other parties potentially involved in this incident,” the spokesperson said.
Police also thanked the people who stepped in to help the man.
“Police would like to thank members of the public who came to the aid of the victim and are assisting with the investigation,” the spokesperson said.
