A grandmother from Rocky Cape has lost everything in a devastating house fire just days before her 80th birthday.
The blaze tore through Kathy’s home and “sanctuary” on Saturday afternoon, leaving her “heartbroken and displaced”, her grandson Kayden Forbes said.
“She has lived a life full of love, laughter and generosity,” he wrote on a GoFundMe page.
“[The fire has left her] heartbroken and displaced.”
Firefighters from Wynyard, Boat Harbour, Montumana and Sisters Beach were called to the blaze on the Bass Highway just after 4pm on August 31.
“The funds will go towards temporary housing, essential supplies and eventually rebuilding or finding a new place where she can feel at home again,” Forbes said.
“Every little bit helps and your support will mean the world to her during this incredibly tough time.”
The Tasmania Fire Service is investigating the cause of the fire.
