Police are carrying out ground and aerial searches in Tasmania’s north-west today for a 47-year-old Smithton man who has been missing for more than two weeks.
Craig was last seen around 12:45pm on Saturday, September 26, near the corner of King and Emmett streets in Smithton.
Acting Inspector Martin Parker said police had searched Smithton and the surrounding area several times without finding him.
“Over the past week police have conducted a number of searches in Smithton and the surrounding area for Craig, however at this stage he has not been located,” he said.
“Concerns continue to be held for Craig’s welfare and today ground and aerial searches will be conducted in and around the Smithton and Circular Head area.”
Last week, search and rescue teams and SES volunteers scoured bushland around Smithton and the Duck River, supported by marine police and a rescue helicopter.
Parker urged local residents and drivers to check any CCTV or dashcam footage from the day Craig disappeared.
“If you’re in the Smithton area and have CCTV systems that cover footpaths and streets or have dash cam from the area on that day, please review your footage and contact police if you see a man that matches Craig’s description,” he said.
Craig is described as tall, with brown eyes and grey hair that is short or shaved at the sides. He is also known to wear reflective sunglasses.
He was last seen wearing a yellow and navy long-sleeved high-vis shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.
Anyone with information about Craig’s whereabouts is asked to contact police and quote ESCAD 105-29092026.
