Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a petrol station in Launceston’s north while armed with a hammer.
The man entered the Newnham service station on George Town Road, near Parklands Parade, around 8pm on Tuesday.
Police allege he threatened a staff member before stealing “a quantity” of cash and fleeing on foot.
The staff member was not physically injured.
The man has been described as being of average build and was wearing bike gloves, a black puffer jacket, grey shoes and a black face covering.
“If anyone witnessed a man fitting this description in the George Town Road area between 7:45pm and 8:15pm on Tuesday 25 August, they should call Launceston Police on 131 444,” a spokesperson said.
