A Hobart father has been sentenced in the Hobart Magistrates Court after being caught driving three times over the legal limit while out getting dinner.
Paul Breen was stopped for a random breath test in West Hobart on the 26th of August last year, where his blood-alcohol content was found to be a staggering .135.
The court heard how the incident occurred after a few hours of drinking gin and tonics and ciders between 4:30PM and 6:30PM, where Breen explained to the police that he was driving his son to grab dinner.
Magistrate Reg Marron was shocked by Breen’s excuse, asking “Have you ever heard of Uber Eats?”

Breen was charged and sentenced on a single count of drive a motor vehicle while exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit, fined $1500 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months.
