Heatwave Alert: Tasmania Braces for High Temperatures

Authorities are urging Tasmanians to prepare for a heatwave set to hit the island, with temperatures expected to exceed 32 degrees on Friday.

Despite a warning for a severe heatwave being cancelled, a low-intensity heatwave remains over much of Tasmania before easing over the coming days.

The Bureau of Meteorology has advised that maximum temperatures will reach the mid-twenties to low-thirties, with overnight minimum temperatures generally in the mid-teens.

The heatwave is expected to impact a wide area of the state, including Hobart, Launceston, and Devonport.

Authorities have issued warnings to the public to take precautions during the heatwave, including staying hydrated, avoiding extended periods of sun exposure, and checking on vulnerable friends and family members.

Hobart is expected to see rain on Saturday with a top temperature of just 24 degrees. However, temperatures are set to bounce back to 27 degrees on Sunday before dropping to 23 degrees on Monday and 19 degrees on Tuesday.

Local businesses are also preparing for the heatwave, with many restaurants and cafes adding extra outdoor seating to take advantage of the warm weather. However, some businesses, such as those in the hospitality and construction industries, are taking precautions to protect their workers from the heat.
