High winds destroy part of Hobart Myer building, roads closed

Police have closed a busy Hobart street after high winds ripped exterior flashing from a building this afternoon.

Liverpool Street is closed between Criterion and Murray Street after ‘large pieces of metal’ fell from the Myer building.

Vehicles and pedestrians asked avoid the area and access the Myer and Icon complex via the alternate entrances.

Several SES staff and Police are currently at the scene of the incident.
