The search for a driver who fled the scene of a fatal crash in north-west Tasmania on Friday that left a Malaysian tourist dead and two others injured is continuing.
The tourist, who was in Tasmania to take part in a motorcycle tour of the state, was killed around 9:25am near Yolla on the Murchison Highway.
Police believe the suspect, who remains at large, was driving a stolen blue Holden Adventra station wagon involved in the collision.
An extensive search, involving dozens of officers and the Westpac Helicopter, was unsuccessful in locating the man in the hours following the incident.
“We haven’t identified [the driver] as of yet, but we currently have significant resources in the Yola area, including the Westpac helicopter and numerous uniformed and a plain clothes officers, searching for [him],” Harvey said on Friday.
The driver is described as Caucasian, slim build, approximately 168 centimetres tall, with dark hair and an unshaven beard.
“We have no set time frame as to when the search will finish. We will continue on as long as it takes to find our person that we’re looking for.”
“We will leave no stone unturned to locate this person, identify them and bring them to justice.”

Two other men sustained injuries in the crash and received hospital treatment.
Tragically, a separate unrelated crash on the nearby Bass Highway claimed the life of a 77-year-old Elliot man the same morning.
