Hobart actress Kartanya Maynard has described her part in the new drama series War as “an absolute dream”, as the show screens across the world on HBO Max.
The University of Tasmania graduate shared photos from the season one premiere on Instagram and said she was “so proud” of the series.
“To be a part of such an incredible project AND to work with some of the most talented and wonderful people has been an absolute dream,” she said.
In the post, she also thanked “the wonderful Luke Mullins” for being “the best date a girl could ask for”.

“I can’t wait for everyone to meet the Cathcarts team and Suzie!” she said.
She stars as Suzie, an Australian lawyer in an English firm, alongside Dominic West and Sienna Miller.

The series follows two London law firms that clash over a divorce case.
Earlier this year, Maynard won the Brian Walsh Award for Emerging Talent at the AACTA Awards.
“I’m so incredibly proud to have received the Brian Walsh award for Emerging Talent,” she said.
“This recognition means the world and I am so excited to keep moving forward, to keep improving and to continue my part in creating incredible stories.”

Speaking to IF Magazine late last year, the trawlwoolway woman said her career since the win had been “overwhelming in the best way possible”.
The prize’s support helped her secure a UK visa, which led to her first international role in War.
“I’ve been working so hard and having that extra support gave me that final rev in the engine; a jolt forward,” she said.
“I get emotional talking about it, because I can’t believe I’m here, living in London.”
Maynard has also shot her first lead role, in Toby Morris’ film Cooee.
Her series Nailing It!, written with childhood best friend Takani Clark, received development funding through Screen Australia, SBS and NITV’s Digital Originals program last year.
She is also known for the Netflix series Heartbreak High, Gold Digger, The Messenger and Deadloch, an Amazon Prime mystery set in a fictional Tasmanian town.
