The Hobart Airport Marathon Festival will return to the streets of the capital in just over 220 days, featuring a full marathon, half marathon, 10km run and 5km walk.
Now in its fourth year, the event has seen participants clock up thousands of combined kilometres and raise nearly $70,000 for charity and community groups since its launch.
Event Director Jason Crowther said the marathon is a “much-anticipated event for runners and the local community alike”.
“We’re incredibly proud of the nearly $70,000 we’ve raised … and we’re aiming even higher this year with a target to raise at least another $50,000,” he said.
2024 marathon podium finisher Eve Mure is encouraging locals to get involved in the event and raise funds for Variety The Children’s Charity.
“It is so special to be competing in our front yard, it gives you a whole different appreciation of our surroundings when you step it out for 42.2km,” she said.
“No matter the distance or speed, nothing beats the atmosphere created by people sharing in a challenge.”
Close to 3,000 participants are expected to take to the streets of Hobart on Sunday, April 6th, with around 20% travelling from outside Tasmania.
Entries are now open through the Hobart Airport Marathon website.
