Hobart Airport could be hit with strike action this Christmas as security and screening staff threaten to walk off the job.
Workers employed by MSS Security say they are currently locked in a wage dispute over a “sub-par wage offer” from their employer.
United Workers Union coordinator Damien Davie said workers were only offered a 2% pay rise this year and is calling for an increase ‘more in line with mainland counterparts’.
Davie said the potential stop-work action will thrust the airport into chaos and “likely cause huge disruptions to flights and travel”.

“For MSS to call our wages claim unrealistic and untenable shows a total lack of respect for workers at Hobart airport,” Davie said.
Hobart Airport security officer Denise Geason said she was sick and tired of struggling to make ends meet and “willing to fight for better”.
“Guards on the mainland are on wages and conditions of up to fifty percent more than us at Hobart Airport for doing the same work,” Geason said.
