Hobart breaks record with warmest July day in 137 years

Hobart has smashed a 137-year-old record overnight, with July minimum temperatures at their warmest in years.

The BOM say the city reached a minimum temperature of 13.0°C in the 24 hours to 9am on Thursday, surpassing the previous record of 12.9°C set when records began around 1886.

Launceston broke a 44-year-old record with 12.0°C, while Devonport recorded a 33-year high of 12.7°C.

In Campania, the minimum temperature dropped to 13.6°C, breaking the previous record set 24 years ago.
