Bellerive Detectives have launched an investigation into a series of alleged burglaries on the Eastern Shore in the past week, with cigarettes being the primary target for the thieves.
The first incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning when a Howrah bottle shop was broken into, resulting in the theft of a large quantity of cigarettes.
Another break-in occurred on Wednesday morning at a bottle shop in Sorell, where a significant amount of cigarettes and alcohol were stolen.
According to Police, the suspects may have initially been driving a stolen Nissan Maxima, which was later found burnt-out on Colebrook Road in Richmond.
In the most recent incident, which happened around 3:40am this morning, a service station in Rosny Park was broken into, with more cigarettes stolen.
Detective Sergeant Josh Wood urged the public to provide any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
“If you have any information that could help the police or if you know of anyone in possession of a large amount of cigarettes, we urge you to contact us,” stated Detective Sergeant Josh Wood.
“You can remain anonymous.”
