A cable fault has been blamed as the cause of a power issue affecting over 1,200 properties around Hobart this afternoon.
Commuters complained of flickering traffic lights around the North Hobart area, while many homes around West Hobart and North Hobart went without power for a short period of time – with others complaining of brief surges.

TasNetworks say “intermittent supply flickers” also occurred in the Hobart CBD while their crews tried to locate the fault.
Power has now been restored to all affected areas.
