Hobart has beaten major mainland capitals for temperature today, reaching 20.7 degrees at around 2:23pm – above its forecast top of 18 degrees.
The Tasmanian capital was warmer than Melbourne, which hovered around 15 degrees, Adelaide at around 18 degrees and Sydney at around 19 degrees.
Hobart was not even the hottest spot in Tasmania, with St Helens on the east coast reaching 23.1 degrees and Friendly Beaches hitting 21.5 degrees.
Other warm spots across the state included Fingal at 21.7 degrees, Campania at 20.4 degrees and Bushy Park at 20 degrees.
Conditions were far cooler on the west coast, with Strahan recording just 13.2 degrees and Cape Sorell reaching 13.2 degrees.
Kunanyi/Mount Wellington was the coldest point in southern Tasmania at 9.5 degrees, with wind gusts reaching 109 km/h overnight.
Maatsuyker Island recorded the strongest winds in the state, with gusts of 102 km/h.
Conditions in Hobart are forecast to be partly cloudy on Monday with a minimum of nine degrees and a top of 17 degrees.
Tuesday is forecast to bring increasing showers and wind, with a top of 20 degrees.
The rest of the week looks wet, with showers expected from Wednesday through to Saturday and temperatures dropping to tops of 14 to 16 degrees.
