Hobart man charged after 3D-printed gun and drug bust

Police have uncovered 3D printed handguns along with ammunition and illicit drugs during a raid on a property in Hobart’s eastern suburbs.

The discovery was made on Thursday when Tasmania Police conducted a search of a Risdon Vale home, leading to multiple charges against a 29-year-old man.

Officers from the Southern Drugs and Firearms Unit, Dog Handling Unit and specialist resources executed the search warrant, which allegedly uncovered the two 3D printed handguns.

The man is facing several drug-related charges including possessing a controlled drug, possessing and cultivating a controlled plant, and selling a controlled drug.

Additional charges include unlawful possession of property and possessing ammunition without an appropriate licence.

Tasmania Police confirmed investigations are continuing specifically into the 3D printed firearms found at the property.
