A Southern Tasmania driver has had his vehicle clamped for 28 days after being caught excessively speeding along the Lyell Highway at Granton.
Police say the driver was caught by a mobile speed camera last Saturday traveling at a staggering 147km/h in an 100km/h zone.
Acting Sergeant Shane Etherington of Road Police Services expressed his concern about the dangerous behaviour, noting that “speeding at any level is unsafe and places Tasmanian road users at risk.”
“All road users are reminded that police can and will clamp vehicles detected travelling at 45km/h or more above the speed limit.”

“Police follow up with drivers and vehicles that have been detected by speed cameras, and I implore every driver to heed the warning and slow down.”
“Dangerous drivers will be removed from our roads and police will continue to clamp or seize vehicles detected travelling at excessive speeds.”
