Hobart police arrest man over $60,000 bicycle and scooter theft spree

A Glenorchy man accused of stealing nearly $60,000 worth of electric scooters, e-bikes and bicycles has been arrested following a weeks-long police operation.

Taskforce Saturate apprehended the 31-year-old on Saturday after linking him to a spree of 19 thefts across the greater Hobart area.

Police allege the stolen items, taken over a three-month period, were primarily locked and secured in public spaces.

Following the arrest, officers conducted a search and recovered a quantity of stolen property.

Investigators are continuing their inquiries and encourage anyone with missing property to come forward.

The suspect has also been charged with multiple breaches of bail and failing to appear in court.

He was held in custody overnight and will face the Hobart Magistrates Court today.
