“Technical difficulties” have been blamed for an outage that saw a Hobart radio station knocked off the air this afternoon.

Listeners of the ARN radio station 7HOFM were without their regular programming for over 30 minutes on Wednesday, instead hearing static and an emergency backup tape repeatedly playing Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’.

In a post online at 1:36pm, 12 minutes after disruption began, the station said they were “currently experiencing some technical difficulties” in their studio.

“We assure you we are working as quickly as possible to get back on the air,” they wrote.

Listeners wasted no time speculating, with many playfully suggesting that the beloved breakfast host, Sarah Morrison, might be responsible for the station’s temporary shutdown.

“I bet it was Sarah”, one listener said, while another asked “What did Sarah do!?”.

The station was back on-air shortly after 1:50pm, only to experience another brief interruption, before eventually returning to regular programming at 1:55pm.
