A rideshare driver has narrowly escaped a terrifying early morning attempted robbery involving a teenager allegedly armed with a knife.
According to police, the driver was working in the Clarendon Vale area on Sunday when the incident unfolded.
At around 2:45am, a 16-year-old boy is alleged to have threatened the driver with a knife before attempting to steal money from him.
“The rideshare driver managed to flee without suffering any physical injury,” police said.
“This incident was isolated and there is no threat to the wider community.”
The teenager was apprehended in the Rosny Park area on Monday and reportedly “assaulted and resisted” police as officers took him into custody.
The youth appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court overnight, facing charges of attempted aggravated armed robbery, burglary, theft and offences against police.
