A 16-year-old girl has been remanded in custody following an incident at the Hobart Magistrates Court today that allegedly saw her assault three people.
Police say the teen allegedly assaulted a prosecutor from the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management, a youth justice worker and a security guard.
The teenager, who was on bail and attending a court appearance, also allegedly verbally abused the presiding magistrate.
Police have charged her with common assault and assault of a public officer.
Commander Jason Elmer has described the behavior as “completely unacceptable”.
“For an incident of this nature to occur within the court precinct and for alleged assaults on people who are just at work trying to do their jobs is extremely concerning,” he said.
The youth was remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear via video link later this month.
